Additionality
Why carbon credits are crucial
One of the most important pillars of a reliable climate project is additionality: proof that the climate gain would not have existed without the sale of CO₂ certificates.
The obstacle in construction
Currently, concrete piles are the absolute industry standard for foundations in the Netherlands and worldwide.
Although wooden piles are cheaper per unit in material, the load-bearing capacity per pile is lower, requiring a greater number of piles to be driven into the ground.
As a result, the total costs of a wooden foundation are higher than those of a polluting concrete foundation, and concrete piles are almost always chosen.

Lower total cost → always chosen
Higher cost without carbon credit revenue
↑ Carbon credits bridge the gap
The role of carbon credits
Revenue from the sale of carbon removal credits bridges the financial gap. This return is the decisive factor motivating project developers, architects and engineers to choose our CO₂-removing wooden foundation solution instead of polluting concrete.
"Without these carbon credits, the transition to wooden foundations would simply not be financially feasible."
